Join us in welcoming Ana Serrato. She has opened Lather.one, an upscale barbershop in the SOCO District of downtown.
Ana is a native of Fullerton. She has many fond memories of downtown before it’s current renaissance. Her family were the last owners of La Chiquita, a Mexican food restaurant fondly remembered by many old time residences of Fullerton. She attended Maple and Raymond elementary, Ladera Vista Jr. High, Fullerton High School, and finally graduating from La Vista. She received her cosmetology training at Fullerton College and became licensed in 2001.
She comes from a family with many strong willed women that had to provide for their families. This shaped and influenced her as she grew-up. At an early age she was determined to have her own business. Immediately upon graduating from High School, she began making and selling her own jewelry. Her outgoing personality gave her an edge while selling at places like Venice Beach, various street fairs, and other public venues.
Ana is very much into the art and music scene. This is evident by the many pieces of art that adorn her shop. While listening to soothing music, her customers are lulled into a gentle calmness. Ana’s approach to a haircut is like an artist applying brush strokes to virgin canvass. She much prefers using a straight razor and scissors, than the modern implements found in most barbershops.
Ana is thankful for all the people that stood by her and gave her support, both moral and financial, while preparing her shop to be opened. In particular she would like to thank the following:
Abigail Loera – Mother
Alicia & Kynan Forney - Atlanta Falcons
Patrick Miller - Fullerton Savings
Terence Love - Steamers Cafe
Rigo Hernandez - Brother
Esther & Charles McLaughlin - Sister & brother-in-law
Beni & Gina Brambila – Cousins
Mark M. Skvarna - Client
